Programme Management Office Manager

The Opportunity

 

As a senior leader in our SIDO team, you’ll be a project controls subject matter expert and responsible for providing true project and programme intelligence required to deliver the SIDO programme outcomes and benefits. Aside from your technical capabilities, we’re also looking for you to be a brave leader, ready to challenge the norm and bring new ways of working to Sizewell B. We’ll want to see your enthusiasm for delivering projects alongside an appetite to drive innovation on our mission of continued safe generation.

 

You’ll be ensuring all activities have been planned and tracked by the PM, progress is assessed and activities are amended to ensure optimal delivery of the SIDO programme. Coordinating all planning, reporting, risk and performance activities will be part of your everyday role. You will also be responsible for developing, shaping and leading the high performing project controls team. This will include ensuring appropriate PMO resources are in place along with an effective framework to manage the SIDO programme.

 

Pay, benefits and culture

 

The salary range associated with this role is between £84,892 - £109,077 however the starting salary for this appointment will be within the range of £84,892 - £98,004. What you’ll be doing

 

The requirements for this role include but are not limited to:

 

  • PMO Management:  Accountable for developing the Programme Control strategies, processes and procedures and monitoring their effectiveness for SIDO. Continuously improving methods for analysing and reporting on programme performance. Working with Enterprise Project Controls to seek process and system improvements to achieve the highest standards.
  • Leadership: Collaborate with other key leaders in SIDO to ensure the delivery of the key objectives of the PMO function and SIDO. Accountable for the capability of the PMO teams, that will include building the capability/competencies of your team.
  • Team Management: Accountable for providing leadership and guidance to the PMO, setting clear expectations, fostering a collaborative work environment and empowering team members to excel in their specialist roles. 
  • Corporate Governance Compliance: Implement the necessary programme controls to meet EDF requirements.
  • Stakeholder Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, promoting collaboration and managing expectations to ensure their needs and requirements are met throughout the programme lifecycle.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Providing accurate, relevant, and timely information including personal, equipment and finances. This entails allocating resources efficiently, monitoring expenditures, benchmarking and making informed decisions to optimise the utilisation of available resources.

 

Who you are

 

We’re looking for you to be a subject matter expert in Project Control techniques within complex, multi-functional organisations with the ability to apply industry best practice. You’ll need experience in leading a Programme Management Office within large, complex Programmes of a strategic nature, in an operational environment that’s preferably in a highly regulated industry. Management and leadership experience directing multi-disciplinary teams addressing Programme and/or Project issues and requirements is paramount. You should also have a comprehensive understanding of governance and oversight principles required to successfully deliver the works. You’ll need to be capable of delivering within an integrated/matrix managed organisation, responsible for the delivery of work by those who may not directly report to you.

 

You’ll need to have at least a Level 4 qualification (HNC or equivalent) and it would be advantageous if you’re educated to degree level or equivalent and preferably a Chartered member of a relevant professional institution. You should be values driven with a straightforward management style and approach. We’re looking for an effective communicator at all levels, able to demonstrate the ability to gain respect, demonstrate credibility and influence decisions. Demonstrable experience of Microsoft Office IT packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint and industry planning tools is paramount.

 

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
