Are you experienced in engineering and safety case principles? Looking for a role where you will be focal to safety reviews on a nuclear power station? Experienced in the nuclear sector, or from another industry with a keen interest in what we may have to offer – we want to hear from you! We’re able to offer full and extensive training to ensure you’re provided with the knowledge to succeed in this role.

As a Periodic Safety Review Engineer, you’ll be joining our team at a key stage in the Lifetime Programme – the final year of production of the review, prior to submission to our Regulator in January 2024. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring this submission is completed in a timely manner and then working on the recommendations raised in the review to take the programme forward. This provides you with a significant opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the plant, its operation, and its supporting safety cases. You’ll provide technical advice across the station, interfacing with various stakeholders to drive and influence delivery of the implementation of solutions.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 5th February.

What you’ll be doing

Your role will be to deliver and resolve reports from both internal and external reviews of the plant, systems and processes. This will include acting as the customer for work and as a Responsible Engineer for some plant modifications. You will ensure company technical standards, technical specifications and management control processes are correctly applied and adhered to.

You will be involved in the full life cycle of the safety review recommendations, with responsibility for:

  • Oversight and approval of PSR review reports
  • Involvement in resolution of recommendations, by optioneering solutions to issues/plant risks
  • Ensuring company and technical standards as well as management control processes are adhered to
  • Producing closure paperwork for recommendations once work is complete.

There will also be opportunities to support station refuelling outages.

Who you are

As a minimum you’ll require an HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline and it may be advantageous if you hold a relevant degree. Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to interact with various stakeholders at all levels. You should be motivated with a ‘can-do’ attitude, keen to develop existing and new skills.
