Outage Operational Planner

We’re currently recruiting for an Outage Operational Planner at Sizewell B Power Station. We can offer a competitive salary from £34,951 - £63,319 with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. The starting salary will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications. Closing date for applications is 2nd December 2021.

The Opportunity


As Outage Operational Planner you will be working as part of the function accountable for the outage management of the station. You will be working on operational testing, plant release, plant return to service and ensuring that associated programmes are delivered safely to satisfy station business targets.

Your previous operations experience within the nuclear industry would be key to your success in this role and you will be working closely with the reactor side of the department.

The Role


Your role will involve interacting with multiple stakeholders both internal (such as the operations team, outage management, project leads) and external to the station to ensure nuclear island operational programmes are accurate, optimised, challenging and achievable

You will be working with Operations Engineers to produce resource levelled agreed plans. You’ll have responsibility of the development and ownership of short and long term operational programmes, as well as coordinating and delivering refuelling outage programmes.

The Skills


As a minimum, you will have a relevant HNC (or equivalent) and having a relevant degree may be advantageous. You will be expected to integrate into the outage planning team, functioning as a key part of the department.

Ideally, you should be able to demonstrate:

 

  • Knowledge of nuclear power plant or have an industrial or project management background within the industry
  • Experience in the areas of operations, maintenance, safety cases and engineering
  • Enthusiasm, drive, ownership and the ability to facilitate change
  • Experience in using the planning application tool Primavera would be advantageous 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to manage cross-functional working groups, encouraging a team ethos to help develop and deliver effective work programmes
  • A calm and measured approach to your work
  • Consistent and thorough attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise workload and identify the most appropriate solution when faced with conflicting demands
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Discretion when handling sensitive information
