Lead Materials Technician

The opportunity
The UK nuclear market is experiencing substantial change with new technologies and demanding clients. Working within this market, Sizewell B is also developing at pace with its current plans to extend operating life until 2055 or beyond. In your role, you will be working to ensure all stores functions within the Supply Chain department remit are delivering against these demands; ensuring safety is at the forefront of everything you do.
This important role will involve leading the stores function and acting as the key point of contact for all key stores related activities, including our satellite stores. It will also involve working with a combination of various departmental functions, contract partners and key stakeholders.
Pay, benefits and culture
We can offer a competitive salary from £30,650 - £46,963 and you’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

This position is a permanent onsite based role.
What you’ll be doing
Key duties as a Lead Materials Technician will include:
- Managing day-to-day operations of the stores function, ensuring safety, quality and time are adhered to and maintained to the accepted standards
- Utilising personnel effectively, ensuring activities are driving value and meeting expectations set out by the organisation
- Effectively managing the day-to-day resource requirements to meet Station priorities as defined in the Shift Managers Log
- Ensuring all satellite stores are managed correctly, withing the correct storage procedures and regulations
- Managing the teams Skills Matrix, updating where necessary and ensuring training of new personnel in relevant stores functional areas
- Delivering regular team briefs to ensure constant communication and keeping the team informed of Company news and updates
- Issuing and ensuring relevant stock accuracy information (cycle counts, shelf life, returns) are completed and up to date on the system in a timely manner
- Training, coaching, developing and mentoring your team for peak performance and continued personal growth.
- This role will also include full training including forklift license and operation of cranes.
Who you are
You must be an experienced Stores Technician with an excellent working knowledge of a warehouse environment and the activities that encompass it. These activities include, but are not limited to: inventory and materials management, goods inwards, issuing of materials, cycle counting, shelf life management, warehouse logistics, storage and housekeeping expectations.
Experience in a supervisory/lead role is desirable but not essential. You’ll have a safety-first approach to everything you undertake and ensure this resonates throughout the team you lead. The ability to build effective relationships and team working at all levels is essential. You’ll be achievement orientated, possessing a strong results focus supported by relevant commercial skills and knowledge required to deliver the objectives set out. Also, the ability to deliver information effectively and in a timely manner is paramount.
