Environmental Services Lead (Sizewell C)

Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050. 
 
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Environmental Services Lead within the Sizewell C (SZC) Environmental Services and Assurance Team. 

 

Our teams are set up to work flexibly, with a hybrid working approach between our offices and your home. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.   

 

 


The Role 

 

 


You’ll lead a team of environmental specialists of varying disciplines to: 


•    develop and review technical documentation within their respective topic areas (water, waste, ecology noise/air quality and land quality), 
•    provide standard setting and technical advice for the project.
•    perform environmental compliance audits of other SZC functions and contractors at SZC offices and SZC site.  

 

You’ll be a key interface with the Environment Agency and other regulators, as well as associated project teams to define processes and procedures for the management of environmental compliance within the SZC project. 

 

You’ll act as SZC’s technical lead and intelligent customer for environmental oversight and assurance of the project.

 

You’ll be Supporting compliance with SZC’s commitments under the DCO, CoCP, Permits, Licences and other Consents.

The ideal candidate will have a general understanding or experience of a broad range of environmental topic areas including but not limited to, water management, waste management, ecology noise/air quality and land quality.

 

You’ll have strong problem solving and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.

 

You’ll also have excellent oral and written communication skills, including be able to effectively negotiate and influence others.

 

Experience leading environmental teams on complex multi-disciplinary projects.
