Reporting into our Environmental Safety Team Leader, you will hold a key role ensuring high standards of Radiological Protection are maintained at our station.

Pay, Benefits and Culture

 

We’re offering a salary of £32,659 - £34,641 that apply with our terms and conditions covered by the EDF Company Agreement. The starting salary for the appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experiences and qualification. This opportunity will be a fixed term contract until March 2026.

What you’ll be doing

 

Working as our next Health Physics Monitor, your daily roles and responsibilities will include carrying out activities to support regulatory compliance primarily with the Ionising Radiations Regulations and Environmental Permitting Regulations.

 

The range of activities include, but are not limited to routine radiation and contamination surveys, radioactive source accountancy, radiation and contamination instrument first line repairs and calibrations, clearance monitoring, environmental monitoring, sampling and analysis of radioactive effluents, solid radioactive waste processing, on-job monitoring for Operations and Maintenance as required.

 

You will also be required to participate in the nuclear emergency scheme and will receive suitable remuneration for this.

 

Who you are

 

We’re looking for you to hold a basic understanding of legislation and company processes relevant to Radiological Protection. As a minimum as well, you will be qualified to GCSE level or higher within relevant fields including Mathematics and English and candidates with a C&G in Radiation Safety Stage 1 will have a distinct advantage. Additional qualifications supporting knowledge in a role like this would be desirable.

 

Previous experience of working within a Radiological Protection environment along with a strong understanding of radiation safety practice in the nuclear field would be desirable.
