Fixed-term - Technical Author/Writer

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Author/Writer to join the EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Ltd Hinkley Point B Transfer & Deconstruction team on a fixed term contract arrangement.


The Opportunity


The UK nuclear market is experiencing substantial change with new competitors, changing technology and demanding clients. In this role, you will build strong relationships and ensure integrity throughout the delivery life cycle.


This role is being offered on a fixed term contract initially for a minimum of 6 months, up to January 2025. Secondments will also be considered for this opportunity.


Pay, Benefits and Culture


The salary range associated with this role is between £40,069 - £84,891 however the starting salary for this appointment will be determined based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience, and qualifications. This is a full-time, position predominantly site-based with some flexibility to work from home.

What You’ll Be Doing


This pivotal role will involve driving the writing of Management of Change (MOC) risk assessments and proposals, supporting the station with its License Condition documentation for transfer.


Who You Are


What you should bring to the role will include:


  • HNC equivalent or degree in a science/engineering business or commercial discipline
  • Strong writing abilities are essential. You’ll create clear, concise, and accurate content for management of change documents that adhere to our License Conditions.
  • You will delve into complex topics with regards to managing change across the station. Effective research skills are required to help you gather accurate information and understand technical concepts and their impact on people and the plant.
  • Familiarity with technology, software, and tools relevant to the subject matter is crucial. You’ll need to grasp technical details and explain them in terms that meet our license conditions and inspectors.
  • Attention to detail is vital. You’ll review and refine content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and a suite of documents that reflect the risk to nuclear safety, mitigation, and aggregate effects of changes across departments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential as you will work closely with the stations executive team, group heads and technical experts to gather, collate and interpret information.
  • Creating diagrams, charts, tables, and visuals to enhance understanding within management of change documents.
  • You will be experienced and able to adapt to timescales and attend meetings to articulate progress and content of documents.
