The Opportunity
As the WEG Engineer / Maintenance COP Compliance Owner you will take an active role in the team, with a focus in two areas.
The specification of work order packages for defects across all systems. Ensuring full compliance with agreed safety and environmental standards, to assist in the production of Work Week, Refuelling and Statutory Outage Plans in accordance with the Work Management Process.
Oversight of the 5 maintenance COP areas, ensuring compliance in all aspects and highlighting and producing actions plans when gaps are identified.
- BEG/SPEC/SHE/COP/010 – Workshop machine tools.
- BEG/SPEC/SHE/COP/015 – Provision & Use of Work Equipment
- BEG/SPEC/SHE/COP/024D – MEWPs.
- BEG/SPEC/SHE/COP/027 – Control of Vibration Exposure
- BEG/SPEC/SHE/COP/030 – Control of Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment

What you’ll be doing
As the WEG Engineer you will carry out the following roles and responsibilities:
- Ensuring that all activities are carried out with full regard to Site Licence requirements, Statutory Regulations, company and location procedures and Safety Rules
- Delivering fully engineered solutions to defects
- Preparing and managing work supporting documentation
- Carrying out risk assessments
- Reviewing spares and liaising with supply chain for non-stock items
- Attending the relevant work planning meetings
- Conducting site walk downs to identify potential problems for complex jobs including the need for additional tasks and resources, verify defects, equipment problems, assemble work packs and update model work orders.
- Supporting the WEG Co-ordinator
- Reviewing and implementing relevant operating experience feedback
- Taking an active role in supporting the Corrective Action Programme (CAP), raising Condition Reports (CR) when appropriate and delivering actions to agreed timescales.
As the Maintenance COP Compliance Owner, you will carry out the following roles and responsibilities:
- Manage compliance against the 5 Code of practices above.
- Report to the Work Equipment Oversight Committee (WEOC) on current status and gaps.
Who you are
The successful WEG Engineer will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- You will hold an HNC or equivalent.
- A broad knowledge of Nuclear Power Plant and an awareness of Operational and Maintenance constraints
- An analytical approach to fault finding, to diagnose and specify solutions to address plant defects with close attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Safety and Environmental legislation, risk assessment and EDF procedures
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- An aptitude to use various computer software packages.
- A flexible and proactive approach to work
- Ability to work independently if required and possess high personal motivation.
- Excellent team working skills and a desire to contribute to improving safety, reliability and performance.

Applicants will be required to obtain CTC level vetting prior to taking up their duties.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
