Security Team Leader - Day Team
On site at Heysham 2 Power Station, we have an opportunity for a Day Security Team Leader. The team leader supports the delivery of the required provision of security standards on a nuclear site so that the integrity of the site security plan is maintained and meets regulatory requirements.
In this leadership role, you’ll lead and co-ordinate security and vetting team activities to ensure compliance with mandatory duties and regulatory requirements, as well as assisting with Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) liaison to ensure effective coordinated responses.

The salary range associated with this role is between £39,513 to £51,597 and you’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications. What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Deputy Site Head of Security, you will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the required level of security at the station, in accordance with the Site Security Plan and Site Licence compliance arrangements. As part of this role you will:
- Be responsible for the leadership and management of our security vetting and day security teams. To include ensuring individuals are fully trained and working to the required standard.
- Lead with site security actions, liaising Shift Managers, in the absence of the Deputy/Site Head of Security.
- Act as interface with all other station and non-operational site departments to ensure a robust security culture is maintained.
- Assist with Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) liaison in support of Site or Deputy Head of Security to ensure effective coordinated response capability.
- Leading with Security communications across joint sites in line with security plans.
- Ensuring station compliance with the approved Security Plan and supporting instructions
- Support the delivery of Security Plan and security related project initiatives with a focus on continuous improvement and change management.
There will be the requirement to undertake a role in the emergency scheme. This may require being on a standby rota.
Who you are
You will need to demonstrate leadership and management skills.
With the ability to work effectively within the security team and build positive working relations at all levels, you will demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, drafting clear and concise technical security communications.
Ideally with security experience in the nuclear industry or similar regulatory environment, you will evidence successfully co-ordinating and supporting improvement initiatives and change management projects. This role will also require a flexible approach to work duties and cover arrangements in case of any required deputising.
As a minimum, you’ll hold at least “4” and above grade passes, particularly in English and Maths. Security Check (SC) vetting is essential and a condition of this appointment.
