What is the Industrial Placement Programme? 

 

We’re recruiting for students to join us our project and outage departments, working at our Heysham Power Stations. This is a site-based position. 


Taking on an Industrial Placement, you'll have the opportunity to learn through hands-on experience under the guidance of highly skilled and experienced colleagues.

Training, development and support for you
 
Over this 12-month programme, most of what you learn will be on the job, with support from your mentor and the teams you work in. You’ll have the opportunity to apply your academic training to genuine problems that are faced in the energy industry and complete modules that contribute to your degree. 
 
Previous students on a Project Management & Planning Placement have been involved in projects such as: 
 
•    Front end engineering and development of new projects – understanding requirements capture and business risk
•    Supporting experienced Project Managers in planning, scheduling and cost estimating small and medium sized projects
•    Getting involved with safety case work, justification and substantiation – largely technical for example calculations & analysis  
•    Investigating techniques useful to help manage progress for large programmes of work 
•    Producing documents and reports for project preparation milestones

 What you’ll need to join the team
 

•    On track to achieve or will have already achieved a 2:2 undergraduate degree or 2:2 postgraduate qualification in Project Management 
•    Technical and analytical skills 
•    Desire to learn and develop new skills 
•    To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
