The Opportunity

 

We are recruiting for an Occupational Health Nurse to join our onsite team on a fixed term basis at Heysham 2 power station. As an Occupational Health Nurse, you’ll offer a focused driven mind-set for all Occupational Health matters liaising with staff as appropriate. 

  

You will provide comprehensive advice and guidance on statutory legislation affecting Occupational Heath for our EDF employees. 

 

This is a fixed term position for an initial 12-month period, 14 hours per week, with a working pattern of Monday 09:30 – 13:30, Wednesday 09:30 – 13:30, Friday 08:30 – 15:00. This is a site based post.

What you will be doing 

 

You will be required to work with company standards and procedures whilst also ensuring compliance within Radiation Regulations. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the mental and physical wellbeing of our employees.

 

Roles and responsibilities include:

 

  • Assess through health screening and statutory health surveillance that employees are fit for work.
  • Complete pre employment, random and for cause drug and alcohol tests for our employees and contractors.
  • Provide advice to management on fitness for duty after illness or injury and during rehabilitation.
  • Respond to incidents and medical emergencies as appropriate during normal hours of work.
  • Provide advice and treatment for minor illness/injuries for both EDF and contractors.
  • Comply with OH clinical governance audit and processes
  • Work closely and effectively with other members of the team predominantly theOHA, whilst supporting and mentoring the onsite OH technicians.
  • Attend / contribute to local safety meetings and Peer Group meetings in the absence of OHA

 

  • Provide support for Mental Health First Aiders
  • Active participation in staff wellbeing initiatives , providing health information.

 

Who you are

 

As a requirement, you must hold a Registered Nurse qualification with preference of OH experience. Be able to demonstrate your commitment to continuous professional development, your expertise in medical confidentiality, ethics, and accountability will all be essential in providing comprehensive and responsible care to our EDF employees.

 

Experience in chronic disease management is preferable. Audiometry, spirometry, skin surveillance, HAVs assessment, ECG, and Vision screening is desirable, although  training will be available.

 

In addition, there is a minimum requirement for an appropriate First Aid Qualification to Frec 3 standard – training will be provided.
