We have an excellent opportunity for an HSEQ to join Fleet Turbine & Maintenance Group (FT&MG) business support department. Your base location will be at our Heysham B Power Station, however we support the UK wide fleet, as such travel to our other locations as required.

 

The opportunity

 

The successful candidate will provide industrial expertise and leadership support in Safety, Quality and Environmental matters.  The HSEQ role is to ensure that appropriate compliance arrangements are in place and that FT&MG is meeting company and regulatory expectations, whilst also delivering continuous improvement performance. As an HSEQ subject matter expert, the candidate will be required to provide a variety of advice and information to line management and departments across all FT&MG operations as well as driving improvements in HSEQ culture.

We can offer a competitive salary from £53,464 - £71,783 and you will be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.  This is a full-time, site-based position.

What you’ll be doing

 

In this role, your responsibilities will include the below:

 

  • Support effective risk identification and management processes.
  • Support the development of a positive safety & quality culture and promote greater safety & quality awareness.
  • Monitor and report industrial safety & quality performance on behalf of FT&MG & site, identifying and recommending appropriate countermeasures to address emerging adverse trends.
  • Monitor and report on compliance with, and effectiveness of, site safety & quality management arrangements, making recommendations for improvement where necessary.
  • Develop and maintain an audit & compliance evaluation programme for industrial health, safety & quality against company and legal requirements.
  • Identify and report results and progress the resolution of areas for improvement.
  • Maintain register of legislative compliance arrangements for the site.
  • Support the investigation of events ensuring that root causes are effectively identified and addressed within the Corrective Action Process.
  • Advise on industrial safety & quality training needs and support effective delivery of training inputs where appropriate.
  • Promote and maintain a positive industrial safety & quality profile by spending time in the field.
  • Supporting specific outage areas with identification of tasks and jobs that require enhanced safety & quality arrangements.
  • Supporting the development of quality plans and other quality arrangements with relevant engineering, supply chain and contract partners.
  • Representing FT&MG at relevant HSEQ  forums.
  • Collaborating with station and contract partner teams to drive a positive HSEQ culture for all outage tasks.
  • Carrying out quality control surveillances during work execution to drive the high quality delivery of work.
  • Devise and run HSEQ improvement campaigns.
  • Principal accountability is to the HSEQ Lead
  • Liaise with the internal / external Regulators and other applicable external bodies on HSEQ matters.
  • Evaluate and report on compliance with legal and company / site industrial safety requirements.
  • Engage with fleet experts as a key stakeholder in the revision or production of HSEQ guidelines for company wide application.
  • Participate within the various Peer Groups in the development and implementation of fleet-wide continuous improvement initiatives and sharing of good practice.

 

Who you are

 

The minimum qualification for the post is an HNC level qualification. Individuals that have a NEBOSH certificate and/ or have demonstrable evidence of influencing a positive HSEQ Culture within a High-Risk organisation will be at an advantage. You will have a detailed knowledge of driving and improving all HSEQ culture within a high-risk organisation and knowledge of HSEQ regulatory framework, and UK safety legislation relevant to Nuclear Power Station Operations and site licence requirements would be an advantage.

 

You’ll also have knowledge of key HSEQ risks present within large industry (e.g. nuclear power stations) and of applicable control measures to mitigate risks, with hands on experience of Quality Control on maintenance activities.

 

You will also have knowledge of company integrated management system and associated company standards, specifications and guidelines in place to provide safe systems of working within a highly regulated industry.

 

Knowledge of HSEQ auditing & monitoring processes is key and the ability to positively challenge, coach and communicate effectively at all levels.
