Supply Chain Governance & Performance Manager, Sizewell C, London, 12 Month FTC to £60,000

This position is offered on a 12 month fixed-term contract basis with the possibility of the role becoming permanent once the project moves out of the development phase. Flexible working is available with expectations of 2 days a week in the office.

The Opportunity

As part of our plan to secure a low-carbon energy future, EDF’s Nuclear New Build (NNB) team is leading an ambitious programme to build a fleet of safe, reliable nuclear power stations in the UK, focussed on two new nuclear power stations, the first since Sizewell B in 1995. The first station is under construction at Hinkley Point C (HPC) in Somerset and NNB’s ambition is to build a second at Sizewell C (SZC) in Suffolk. The SZC project is currently in the development phase, with UK public policy; financing; commercial and construction arrangements being established. The intention is to begin construction of the project at the end of 2022.


The Supply Chain directorate ensures ‘best value’ contractual arrangements between SZC and its supply chain aligned to the project delivery model, reflecting a fair balance of risk and promoting ‘Best for Project’ behaviours, decisions and outcomes.

The Role


Reporting into the Senior Supply Chain Lead – Governance, Data and Project Services, you will work closely with the Supply Chain Director, Senior Supply Chain Leads and stakeholders at all levels across SZC, to maintain effective governance and proportionate oversight of Supply Chain activities. You will develop and implement effective systems, management information and master data to support the optimal performance, with a particular focus on lessons learned from HPC to deliver lean processes, management information and strategic insight across the supply chain.


You will be accountable for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Supply Chain input to the IMS covering: Procurement, Contract Management, Supplier Relationship Management and Supply Chain Assurance & Continuous Improvement. You will have oversight of supply chain expenditure to Financial Investment Decision (FID) and contract formation to support future construction activity and will be business owner for Supply Chain systems supporting formation and administration of 500+ contracts (e.g. CEMAR) and supply chain performance monitoring.

Specifically, you will:

•    Develop and deploy training materials to support awareness and adoption of Supply Chain’s processes
•    Maintain oversight and assure compliance with the standards of the Supply Chain Policy
•    Lead and coordinate responses to supply chain governance queries raised by internal and external stakeholders
•    Coordinate and support engagements as required with UK regulators, HM Government and Ofgem in relation to Supply Chain Management topics
•    Lead the development of strategic insight related to the Supply Chain function and the supply chain itself
•    Develop SZC’s supply chain intelligence capability to support SZC’s understanding of its supply chain, enhance value for SZC and identify and help mitigate supply chain risks
•    Support the development and continuous improvement of Supply Chain systems and implementation of identified improvements to end-to-end Supply Chain processes aligned to SZC’s overarching systems strategy
•    Manage and oversee system enhancements / access requests to Supply Chain systems 
•    Interface with Project Services, Project Controls, Finance, HR and other project functions as required to support combined data management and reporting
•    Manage and maintain content provided about the Supply Chain function to internal and external stakeholders 

The Skills


To be successful in this role, you be able to demonstrate:

•    Experience developing or operating procurement, contract management, supplier relationship management, assurance, and continuous improvement methods and processes
•    Ability of working within a complex major project/programme environment 
•    Experience of working in a dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders
•    Excellent written and verbal communications skills
•    Technically proficient with excellent analytical & problem-solving skills
•    Success in delivering process and system improvements in support of broader business objectives
•    Leadership skills



•    Degree qualified and member of a professional body
•    Familiar with the nuclear site licence conditions and the nuclear baseline philosophy
•    Understanding of the UK regulatory framework
•    Understanding of UK and international supply chain within the nuclear sector
•    Experience of standard forms of contract (NEC and FIDIC) within the power/construction industry
•    Knowledge of English law and its impact upon the contract and commercial function
