The Opportunity

Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting projects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. The SZC Project is a ~£20bn nuclear new build project in Suffolk which is currently seeking planning approval and financing from HMG and investors, with a view to start construction in 2023. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Site Environmental Oversight Manager to be the subject matter expert in Construction Environmental Permitting for SZC.

Our teams are set up to work flexibly. If you’re able to travel to the office to collaborate with your team and stakeholders when required, you can be based anywhere in the UK. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for obtaining the necessary Construction Environmental Permits and Consents for SZC, ensuring that appropriate organisation and environmental arrangements are in place for the various stages of the project in order to maintain compliance with these permits.

This will include co-developing arrangements with the Civil Works Alliance, and delivering and implementing an environmental surveillance plan in relation to activities conducted on site and with associated developments.

The Skills

You’ll have experience of Environmental Permitting and Technical Environmental issues relating to large infrastructure projects, with strong knowledge of environmental legislation, policy, regulatory guidance and standards.

Demonstrable leadership experience would be strongly desirable, especially from working in a construction environment dealing with an on- site workforce.

Experience in the nuclear industry would be advantageous.

If the above sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
