The Opportunity

Are you looking for a career which is rewarding and where you can really make a difference? Come and join us as a Senior Technical Accountant in our Technical Accounting team. The Technical Accounting team is the lead contact for the technical accounting topics requested by business units, ensuring accounting policies are appropriate for the business, consistently applied and in compliance with relevant IFRS and Group policies. You will be responsible for ensuring such policies are considered within our commercial activities where appropriate.

You will also be responsible for the statutory accounting process for EDF Energy’s legal entities with a view to improving and developing the overall process. They provide technical expertise, ensuring that statutory accounts produced are fully compliant with relevant IFRS and group policies.

Our teams are set up to work flexibly, therefore you do not need to be in the office every day, as long as you’re able to travel to the office 2/3 days a week to collaborate with your team and stakeholders. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.

The Role & Skills

As a Senior Technical Accountant, you will plan and manage the statutory accounts process for EDF Energy’s entities, production of accounts under relevant accounting standards (consolidated IFRS and FRS101 accounts), liaise with external auditors and internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth audit process and timely filing of accounts and identify and deliver improvements in the statutory accounts process.

You will also be expected to provide advice to the business about the accounting impact of proposed transactions and contribute to the development and maintenance of up to date accounting policies, procedures and systems for relevant accounting and reporting, ensuring accurate management information. You will have a strong up-to-date understanding of IFRS and prepare accounting opinion papers as required and conduct and support discussions within the business to ascertain implication of proposed accounting treatments.

If you are a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with experience in the preparation of financial statements and technical accounting, with an in-depth understanding of IFRS (with experience of confident application of the standards to workplace scenarios) then we'd love to hear from you!
