Senior Technical Accountant

Join our Technical Accounting & Statutory Reporting team at EDF as a Senior Technical Accountant, where your IFRS expertise will be key!

 

Sitting within Corporate Finance, this role provides opportunity to work on complex accounting matters as well as statutory financial statements for EDF’s UK entities, and drives process improvements through automation and enhanced financial controls.

What you’ll be doing

 

Technical Accounting

 

  • Research on complex technical accounting matters, assessing the impact of proposed transactions and providing expert guidance.
  • Support discussions with business units, ensuring accounting treatments align with IFRS and business objectives.
  • Prepare comprehensive accounting papers to document technical assessments and recommendations.
  • Coordinate and deliver the annual technical accounting training programme for UK finance teams.

 

Statutory Reporting

 

  • Preparation of statutory accounts under FRS 101, ensuring compliance with financial and legal reporting standards across multiple entities.
  • Contribute to the UK Group IFRS consolidated accounts, supporting accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Liaise with external auditors and internal stakeholders to streamline the audit process and ensure timely filing of accounts.
  • Collaborate with legal, tax, sustainability, and finance teams, while overseeing the work of outsourcing partners.
  • Manage the delivery of approximately 25 financial statements, each with unique complexities and challenges.
  • Drive automation and process improvements, enhancing efficiency in statutory reporting and coordination with outsourcing teams.

  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with strong numerical skills and a commitment to delivering high-quality, accurate financial reporting.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, project management, and meeting targets, while continuously seeking improvements in processes and reporting.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting processes and internal controls, ensuring compliance and governance excellence.
  • A commitment to acting with integrity and confidentiality, fostering trust and accountability in everything you do.
