Senior Technical Accountant

The Opportunity


 
Reporting into our Technical Accounting & Statutory Reporting Manager, you’ll work directly with EDF's business units and outsourcing team to support our statutory financial statements preparation.
 
You'll provide financial controls, consolidation of actuals, planning information and key support to the business all whilst contributing to the delivery of financial statements consistent with IFRS and EDF Group's accounting policies.

 What you’ll be doing


 
•    You'll be at the forefront of complex technical accounting research, assessing the implications of proposed transactions.
•    Engage with our business units, helping our stakeholders understand the impacts of potential accounting treatments. Collaboration is key, as you'll work with teams across legal, tax, sustainability, and business unit finance, while also overseeing the efforts of our outsourcing team
•    Prepare comprehensive accounting papers will be a key part of your responsibilities, ensuring clarity and accuracy in our financial documentation.
•    Take the lead in coordinating the annual technical accounting training program, enhancing the knowledge and skills of our UK finance teams.
•    You'll take charge of preparing statutory accounts under FRS 101 for companies with diverse principal activities, ensuring compliance with both financial and legal reporting standards. Your contributions will be vital in producing the UK Group IFRS consolidated accounts.
•    Coordinate and liaise with both internal and external stakeholders/auditors to ensure a smooth audit process and timely filing of accounts.
•    You'll contribute to the delivery of over 20 sets of financial statements, each presenting unique challenges and complexities.
•    Adopt a continuous improvement mindset and identify ways to improve automation and coordination with our outsourcing team.
 
In addition to your primary duties, you'll take on ad hoc projects as directed by senior leadership, including the Manager, Senior Manager, Financial Control Director, or CFO. These projects will allow you to showcase your versatility and contribute to various aspects of our financial operations.
 


Who you are


 
•    You’ll have a strong understanding of the IFRS framework, including specific standards, principles and interpretations and stay up-to-date with changes and amendments to IFRS standards.
•    Experience applying IFRS in real-world scenarios, such as preparing and reviewing financial statements, analysing financial transactions and determining the appropriate IFRS treatment as well as applying IFRS guidelines to resolve complex accounting issues.
•    Have previously worked with auditors and can successfully manage relationships to ensure accurate and timely IFRS reporting is delivered.
•    You’ll be meticulous in ensuring our financial statements comply with IFRS requirements.
