The opportunity…

This is an exciting opportunity for a numerate and engaged candidate to join the Portfolio Analysis and Trading Support team within EDF's Wholesale Markets Optimisation division.

We’re open to recruiting either an Analyst or Senior Analyst to join the team. With long term development and training opportunities, the Analyst role would suit someone at the beginning of their analyst career. The Senior Analyst role would be ideal for an experienced candidate looking for the next step in their career.

As a Senior Hedging Analyst, every day is different. You’ll be responsible for developing and implementing our hedging strategies; providing guidance and analytical support to the Shift Trading and Portfolio Hedging teams; and report on the trading and performance of hedging activity to drive insight, improved commercial value and provide visibility of the team’s activities up to the executive level. The Senior Hedging Analyst would be expected to provide coaching and guidance to support the development of the more junior analysts within the team.

What we’re looking for…

Being a Senior Hedging Analyst means you’ll proactively identify and manage projects to develop and improve EDF’s hedging strategies in support of maximising gross margin and reducing risk to the combined portfolio of Generation and Customers assets. You’ll work closely with the Portfolio Hedging teams to determine the most effective way of executing the hedging strategy. Provide analysis, insight and challenge to support and steer the trading performance.

We’re looking for someone who can report on portfolio position and hedging activity to the wider Wholesale Market Optimisation team, and executive committees and ensure content remains effective to provide insight into the trading activities, strategies and the associated commercial value. You’ll  act as the key interface from Portfolio Operations to Energy Market and Credit Risk, to ensure appropriate oversight and review of hedging strategies as well as compliance with internal risk policies and market regulations.

You’ll work closely with the Senior Manager of Portfolio Analytics and Trading Support to lead a proactive and commercially aware team and ensure the hedging strategies are managed effectively and accurately in the Trading Risk Management system.
