The Opportunity

Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project is now seeking private investment with a view to start construction in 2024. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

We’re currently looking for an Energy Analyst to join the Finance and Economic Regulation (F&ER) team, at the heart of the SZC project. The work of the F&ER team is critical to the success of the project, with responsibilities covering financing negotiations, investor engagement, commercial strategy, project development, risk profiling and energy transition.

Our teams are set up to work flexibly, with a hybrid working approach between our offices and your home. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.

The Role

You’ll cover a mix of financial, commercial and policy activities dependent on your specific background and skills. More specifically, that’ll include development of the SZC financing arrangements and economic regulation under the regulated asset base model, through engagement with the UK government, regulators, and potential investors.

A big part of your role will involve conducting research and analysis of different designs and issues for the financing framework, in order to provide an understanding of developments within the infrastructure financing and construction markets, analysing the impacts of different options on investors and the UK public, and preparing material to explain and support analysis for use with internal and external stakeholders.

You’ll also be involved in preparing material for public media and communications content to support the case for SZC as a critical part of the UK’s action against climate change.

The Skills

You’ll have experience in a commercial setting such as finance or legal, ideally with knowledge of infrastructure project development or energy transition, or something similar.

Having a mixture of strong qualitative and analytical skills, along with good commercial awareness and the ability to communicate complex analysis will be key.

You’ll be a strong communicator with the ability to work independently and flexibly.

If the above sounds like you, then we’d love to hear from you!

A full job description is available on request.
