The Opportunity

EDF has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Business Analyst to join our Wholesale Markets Optimisation (WMO) team.

Wholesale Markets Optimisation is responsible for managing the gas and electricity energy needs of our residential and business customers and the needs of the Generation fleet. The activities across the team include modelling and analysis, demand forecasting, portfolio hedging, short term optimisation and Generation liaison.

As Senior Business Analyst, you will play a leading role in formulating, directing and supporting the delivery of small, medium and large scale business change initiatives.

You will have the opportunity to work in partnership with business leaders, deploying expert business analysis skill and broad business knowledge to create solutions that provide significant business benefit, against the backdrop of a robust business case and appropriate level of risk.

Along with the Project and Programme Managers, you will be instrumental in shaping the structure of the business change activity and have responsibility for leading the Business Analysis work stream. Remaining engaged throughout development and implementation to manage requirements change, validate the solution and prepare the business for implementation.

Our teams are set up to work flexibly and we provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.  Rachel Bennett (Senior Analyst) says:“The ability to be flexible with my location gave me the confidence to apply for a new role where my team were based across the country, as I knew I could make the role work remotely.  It has also meant I can do the school run and walk my dog at lunch time. This has bought more balance to my life and role and I think I am more productive for it.”

We need you to Define and assure the business intent of any given change, articulate this through requirements and then protect (own) that intent through the delivery lifecycle.

To be successful in this role we are looking for skills across the following:

  • Excellent business and industry acumen, with a broad understanding of EDF Energy and its business and customer challenges / cultural variations , plus understanding of wholesale markets, and the commercial environment within which Customers and Generation work.
