The Opportunity

Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting projects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. The SZC Project is a ~£20bn nuclear new build project in Suffolk which is currently seeking planning approval and financing from HMG and investors, with a view to start construction in 2023. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

Our Project Controls Team is growing, and as such we now have two fantastic opportunities for a Risk Lead and Risk Manager to support the functionality of the Sizewell C project.

The work of the Risk team is to develop and maintain the Risk and Value functionality including Risk Policy, Strategy, Plan and Process.

Our teams are set up to work flexibly. If you’re able to travel to the office to collaborate with your team and stakeholders when required, you can be based anywhere in the UK. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.

The Roles

As the Risk Lead, you’ll primarily be responsible for creating the SZC Risk Functionality – including (but not limited to); developing and maintaining a suitable Risk Department, Policy, Strategy, Management Plan, Processes and procedures for the delivery of risk and value at corporate, business and functionality levels, with specific responsibility for providing risk assurance to the Senior Leadership Team and key stakeholders. You’ll line manage the Risk Manager.

We also need a Risk Manager to support the Lead with the above activities, specifically the Risk Management Plan. You’ll work with the Risk Team to develop Programme Risk Registers, working with project teams to identify new and emerging risks. You’ll also conduct qualitative and quantitative risk analysis on the Integrated Works Schedule.

Both roles will be based at Sizewell C, but will be required to travel to other company locations as required.

The Skills

You’ll have demonstrable Risk Management experience on major projects, any experience in the nuclear industry would be ideal but isn’t a requirement.

Other things we’ll be looking for are risk data analysis experience, line management experience and knowledge of planning tools such as P6, Microsoft Project or something similar.

For the lead role, board level report writing and presentation skills are key.

If the above sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!

A full job description is available on request.
