The Opportunity


As a Research Engineer working at EDF Energy R&D UK Centre, you will be responsible for leading and contributing to research projects related to Power System and Market Design, Complex System Optimisation, Economic Assessment and Business Model Development, Distributed Generation and Energy Storage.

You will work with EDF Energy, EDF Group, UK academia and research councils to develop and deliver research projects relating to power systems modelling and economics, integration of renewable power generation into transmission and distribution networks, grid-connected and behind-the-meter battery storage and electrification of transport. 

You’ll contribute to these projects by undertaking system modelling and design, data analysis and project management. 

There will also be some international travel required.

The Role and Skills


Being a Research Engineer at EDF means excellent communication skills are vital as you will be expected to communicate complex topics to audiences from a variety of backgrounds and seniority as well securing project funding from internal and external sources.

We’re looking for someone with expert knowledge of energy technologies, power systems, energy markets and business models together with experience in data gathering and analysis.

You’ll also be experienced in business development and/or successful sourcing of research funding, leading a project team, influencing key stakeholders and senior management.

If you have experience in coding in Python as well as modelling power systems and have excellent collaboration with various stakeholders then we’d love to hear from you!
