Join EDF as a Renewables Investment Modelling Research Engineer and you’ll play a key role in participating in the renewables investment modelling research activities. The Renewables Team is a highly skilled international multidisciplinary team which focuses on reducing costs and risks associated with renewables project investments made by EDF Group across the world by developing innovative high value solutions with a strong focus on offshore wind.

Sitting in our the Research and Development team you’ll being responsible for delivery of cutting-edge research related to investment modelling for renewables projects with an emphasis on offshore wind. The role will require close support to be provided to the different EDF Group Renewables business units in the UK, France and US.

The opportunity…

As a Renewables Investment Modelling Research Engineer, you’ll undertake the delivery of high quality financial studies related to assessment of offshore windfarms and energy production and drive the development of internal financial modelling tools. You’ll challenge the hypothesis with external models and ensuring the requirements from stakeholders across EDF Group are taken into account. 

The Renewables Investment Modelling Research Engineer will work in an international environment and have the ability to deliver high quality industrial and research studies by interfacing with key internal and external stakeholders. You’ll support medium and long term cost forecast analysis for offshore wind to benefit the ambitions of the whole EDF group and perform regular technology watch which will be shared widely within the company to identify promising new innovations or technologies that could offer offshore wind cost reduction.

The Renewables Investment Modelling Research Engineer will perform regular assessments of policy decisions, changes in regulation and competitor behaviour and maintain close relationships with internal stakeholders and sponsors involved in offshore wind innovation and investment delivery within the EDF group. You’ll identify, coordinate and participate in collaborative research projects with UK and international academies and/or industrial partners in support of the needs of the different global EDF Group.

What we’re looking for…

Being a Renewables Investment Modelling Research Engineer at EDF means you’ll have a proven track record in financial modelling, economics and statistical techniques in an energy context and have extensive knowledge of the power generation sector. You’ll have an enthusiasm for developing scientific or applied financial or economic modelling in an industrial or research context and show strong leadership skills with the ability to influence at various levels. 

As a Renewables Investment Modelling Research Engineer you’ll have experience of working with large amounts of data and be able to analyse and translate the data effectively, reporting your findings to internal stakeholders and sponsors. You’ll have the ability to work independently or in teams with the capacity to lead when required. You’ll need to have excellent written and oral communication skills, including being able to communicate key financial/economic analysis results. 

You’ll have the ability to multitask and have a flexible working approach whilst working with international teams and hold a passion for renewable energy.
