Renewables Industrial Placement

At EDF UK success is personal. We don’t define it, you do. Join our Renewables Industrial Placement and you’ll achieve your career goals in the way you want to. All while contributing to our mission to help Britain achieve Net Zero.

“Our Industrial Placement gives you the opportunity to work with key stakeholders to support the ongoing development of EDF's offshore wind farms in the UK and Ireland, as well as in other countries around the world. In addition, we train our interns to develop technical and non-technical skills such as cost modelling, coding, data science, writing technical reports, liaising with clients and presenting their work to a range of internal and external audiences.” Marie, Renewables Team Head.

What does this Renewables opportunity offer you?

We’re recruiting for students to join our UK Research & Development (R&D) Centre for this 12-month Renewables Placement in London.

Our EDF UK R&D Centre is an integral part of the EDF Group R&D international network. The strategy of the centre is to lead research and development for EDF, creating value, preparing for future challenges and unlocking opportunities for the business.
During this placement, you’ll contribute to the R&D programme which tackles offshore wind challenges.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a starting salary of £25,500 and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

That’s why we give you the freedom to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

Training, development, and support for you

This programme will provide you with insight into the R&D challenges in the areas of offshore wind, including Meteocean, Construction and Installation, Operation and Maintenance and Cost-modelling, gaining vital experience in how EDF applies research work to deliver solutions to the business units.

You’ll have the opportunity to work with key stakeholders to support the development, the construction, installation, maintenance and decommissioning of our portfolio of offshore wind projects (23 GW), anticipate and tackle future challenges and assess how innovation can reduce the costs and increase EDF’s competitiveness.

You’ll build both technical and non-technical skills, whilst learning about a variety of topics related to offshore wind, and develop skills in coding, technical report writing and presentation.

This opportunity will give you the understanding about how academic research work and skills obtained throughout an undergraduate degree can be used within a major company. You will gain important technical, and report writing skills and have the chance to meet like-minded researchers within the EDF UK R&D and practitioners from our various business units.

We’re here to support you throughout the process and you’ll find helpful tips and advice here: https://www.edfenergy.com/careers/early-careers
