Quality Assurance Engineer

The Opportunity


EDF Wholesale Market Services (WMS) is a core business line within the EDF UK Customers Business that is at the centre of helping Britain achieve Net Zero. It provides industry leading wholesale market services to EDF’s supply and generation business units and to third party energy asset owners. The Quality Assurance team look after the IT Systems used by our wider WMS team who are responsible for managing the wholesale trading in EDF, including our 24/7 Shift Trading Team.


We are looking for a talented Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of internal solutions and those developed in collaboration with our external partners.

What you’ll be doing
 

  • Reviewing and analysing requirements, specifications, and technical design documents, providing timely feedback
  • Producing detailed and well-structured test plans, test cases, traceability matrixes, reports, and other QA documentation
  • Implementing and executing manual and automated tests as per the agreed project requirements
  • Participating in meetings and supporting written communication with the Development, Business and QA teams
  • Working with stakeholders including PO, BA, and developers to ensure testing is complete in line with business need and agreed deadlines

 

Who you are


To be successful in the role, we are looking for:
 

  • Industry experience in software quality assurance (QA engineer, Software Tester, Test engineer or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
  • Ability to utilise tools such as Jira, Confluence, Miro for effective ticket and documentation management
  • Experience with test management systems like TestRail or Zephyr
  • Experience with Web testing
  • Experience with API testing, preferably REST APIs and tools like Postman, Swagger, JMeter
  • DB testing, including AWS (DynamoDB, logs, lambdas), SQL, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub, Jenkins, Docker for seamless integration
  • Automation skills for UI and API testing using tools and technologies like Selenium, Cypress, Python, .NET, React
  • Experience with trading, energy or fintech domains will be a significant advantage
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proactive and able to demonstrate strong ownership
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and with willingness to explore and experiment
  • Ability to learn, collaborate and share best practices within a team
