The Opportunity

Are you experienced in financial communications and looking for a career where you can really make a difference at the cutting edge of project development? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C team and work on one of the most exciting infrastructure projects in the UK.

Sizewell C is a proposed new nuclear power station which is set to become one of the biggest low carbon energy projects in the country. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for at least 60 years. It will play a key role in helping the UK reduce carbon emissions to ‘net zero’ by 2050.

Sizewell C is expected to be financed by multiple investors using the so-called Regulated Asset Base model. This is a tried and tested financing arrangement which is already used in many other infrastructure projects to lower the cost of capital and ultimately the cost to consumers.

As the Sizewell C project moves forward it will requires someone with proven experience in financial communications to explain the benefits of the project to financial institutions, key City journalists and other stakeholders.

Our teams are set up to work flexibly. If you’re able to travel to the office 3 days per week to collaborate with your team and stakeholders when required, you can be based anywhere in the UK. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.

The Role

You’ll work with the Finance and Economic Regulation team to raise the profile of the SZC project through a programme of external engagement, including meetings and promotional events, with financial institutions, regulators and government officials as well as key financial journalists.

Through building relationships with these stakeholders, you’ll help develop the narrative and key messages about Sizewell C and its proposed funding model for a financial audience.

Additionally, you’ll produce communications materials setting out Sizewell C’s uniqueness as a ‘net zero’ project and prepare speeches and briefings for senior members of the executive team.

The Skills

You’ll bring prior experience of working in financial PR, with a good understanding of the requirements of financial reporting. You’ll understand how investors think and appreciate the growing importance of environmental, social and governance  issues. You’ll be experienced in answering questions from journalists and have good contacts among key media outlets.

Perhaps you’ve worked on a large infrastructure project or within the energy industry, meaning you’ve got a good understanding of how such projects are financed, and ideally an understanding of Government energy policy.

Additionally, you’ll be able to demonstrate strong attention to detail working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to develop and influence a wide range of stakeholders.

If the above sounds like you, then we’d love to hear from you. A full job description is available on request.
