The Opportunity


EDF Wholesale Market Services (WMS) is a core business line within the EDF UK Customers Business, that is at the centre of helping Britain achieve Net Zero. It provides industry leading wholesale market services to EDF’s supply and generation business units and to third party energy asset owners. The team operates in a broad and diverse range of market segments including residential & business supply, nuclear, renewable & thermal generation and storage & flexible energy.


We are looking for a talented Analyst to join the Portfolio Analytics and Trading Support (PATS) team. developing and maintaining hedging strategies for the Customer and Generation portfolios, as well as ensuring the positions hedged to are correct.


What you’ll be doing


As the Senior Analyst you will be responsible for developing and implementing hedging strategies, providing guidance and analytical support to the trading and hedging teams, as well as other business units across EDF.


You will review the performance of hedging activity to drive insight, improve commercial value and provide visibility of the team’s activities up to the executive level. You’ll also ensure that reporting is clear, accurate and provides insight on the performance, exposures, and risks.


You will be highly analytical and be able to deal with complex problems and large quantities of data, with excellent attention to detail and good commercial acumen. You will be able to present this clearly and compellingly to help drive decision making.


A key part of this role is to evaluate movements in positions and understand why these have occurred, in the context of the hedging strategies that are applied.

We are looking for somebody with excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strong analytical mindset and good stakeholder management skills.  


You will demonstrate a positive outlook, showing resilience and determination to deliver continuous improvements, an open, honest and transparent communication style and a kind and supportive approach to working with the team.


As the Senior Analyst, you will have excellent presentation and communication skills ensuring that complex and detailed subjects are communicated and presented clearly and concisely.
