The Opportunity

The SZC Project is a ~£20bn nuclear new build project in Suffolk which is currently seeking planning approval and financing from HMG and investors, with a view to start construction in 2023. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years supporting our objective to help Britain achieve Net Zero by 2050.

As a Personnel Security Lead (Assurance), you’ll be accountable for the intelligent replication of the Hinkley Point (C) (HPC) Personnel Security Regime (PSR) within the Nuclear Site Security Plan (NSSP) and security case for Nuclear New Build (NNB) Sizewell C (SZC). This role carries responsibility for IC control of End 2 End (E2E) contractual requirements including List N and holding and maintaining the regulatory interface for Personnel Security for the SZC Project.      

Our teams are set up to work flexibly, therefore you don’t have to live in London. If you’re able to travel to the London office to collaborate with your team and stakeholders when required, you can be based anywhere in the UK. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.

The Role


With the support of the Security manager, you’ll ensure the Sizewell C Project’s overall security arrangements meet the required regulatory, legal requirements and align with standards.

You’ll oversee cross licencee coordination of and business change management to the Sizewell C Workforce Information Management (WIMS) system used for the onboarding, pre-employment checks and vetting of all SZC Personnel.

We’re looking for someone to liaise closely with the TCO Central Vetting Service and Personnel Security Lead (Site) to specify Personnel Security WIMS requirements for business architecture development and ongoing management of business change. 

You’ll hold responsibility to respond to changes in legislation, regulation and standards and advise the licencee on the risk balance case in line with SZC’s Values of nuclear safety, zero harm and business risk appetite.

The role will allow you design, manage and maintain personnel security categorisation, audit and inspection tools on Insight, ensuring maximum effective use of this project organisational learning tool aligned with the assurance and performance reporting functionality built into SZC WIMS.


The Skills


You’re likely to have knowledge in providing security guidance and undertaking personnel security vulnerability assessments using CPNI recognised methodologies.

Good understanding and practical experience of managing complex security threats including terrorist and insider would be beneficial. 

You’ll bring your proven ability to assimilate rapidly pertinent information from a variety of sources (written and spoken) and recommend clear courses of action.

It would be great if you have proven experience of external stakeholder management at senior level with Government, regulators and other Governmental agencies.

You may have experience in delivering Personnel Security in a previous reputable security role (armed forces, police, Home Office, civil nuclear industry or similar private or public sector environment).

You must currently hold or be able to achieve DV vetting.
