The Opportunity

Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy.  
Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project is now seeking private investment with a view to start construction in 2024. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050. 

 

We have a fantastic opportunity for a paralegal, within Sizewell C’s Legal team reporting to the Due Diligence and Legal Data Lead, Sizewell C. This role will also maintain a close link to the VDR Manager, who sits with SZC’s Financing and Economic Regulation.


Our teams are set up to work flexibly, with a hybrid working approach between our offices and your home. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.

 

The Role 

 

You’ll support on vendor and investor due diligence activities including reviewing and analysing documents, assisting with some drafting of due diligence reports and contract summaries, and proof readings. 

 

You’ll be responsible for the gathering of project data, reviewing and verifying project data in line with disclosure principles, co-ordinating legal aspects of stakeholder due diligence on the SZC project and supporting the management of the SZC Virtual Data Room (‘VDR’) as a tool to facilitate investor due diligence activities. 

 

You’ll be required to support on broader corporate, construction, governance and compliance legal workstreams within the SZC Legal team  (including governance, contracting, document review and advice) and may also be expected to support the wider teams with various workstreams pivotal for the development of the SZC project. 

 

The Skills 

 

You’ll have excellent working knowledge and experience in the following areas:

 

•    A law degree obtained in England and Wales or a degree and law conversion course (required)
•    A professional qualification such as LPC or BPTC (or equivalent) (desirable).
•    Experience of large document review exercises and working with digital document review platforms (desirable). 

•    Proven experience in a data management, document review and due diligence including redaction and legal privilege (desirable).
•    Experience in proof reading documents for sense, consistency, cross reference, definitions, formatting and typographical errors (required). 
•    Previous paralegal experience, especially in a large energy infrastructure environment (desirable). 
•    Up-to-date knowledge of data management and redaction tools (desirable)..
•    Previous experience with investor data rooms (desirable).
•    Strong organisation, administrative and analytical skills with the ability to convey results in a clear and concise way (required).
•    Superb attention to detail with effective data management and data assurance awareness (required).
•    Previous experience in developing relationships with stakeholders and delivering high quality work on time (desirable).
•    Acts in a professional manner with a positive and enthusiastic ‘can do’ attitude (required).
•    Ability to manage and analyse data and information using Microsoft Excel and other analytical software (required).
