PPA Structuring Manager

The Opportunity

EDF (UK) are one of the largest offtakers in the UK delivering market leading route to market services for generators. Combining this capability with large multi-channel sales divisions, I&C are developing marketing leading Corporate PPA propositions to help British businesses and the Public sector to decarbonise. 

As the PPA Origination Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering commercially driven products & services that support the drive to Net Zero.

Day to Day you will be:

  • Operating within the GB electricity supply market. Originating, developing and owning a diverse pipeline of renewable offtake arrangements 
  • Leading on commercial negotiations and implementation of often long term, complex contracts focussed on the large developer market.
  • Developing bespoke solutions for large corporations tenders
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships across all sales channels, driving the innovation of market leading PPA-linked supply solutions and overseeing implementation.
  • Managing a small, high performing and highly capable team 
  • Developing and maintaining strong market presence, engaging with key players in the UK Renewables market. You will represent and promote EDF at industry events

The Role

I&C Sales are responsible for the delivery of gross margin targets in excess of £110m p.a. through a balanced portfolio of bespoke import contracts, export and low carbon contracts, infrastructure services and metering sales. Working within the PPA & Sustainability Solutions team, you, as the PPA Origination Manager will have responsibility for contracts delivering ~£30m p.a.

The PPA & Sustainability Solutions team provide specialist generator Route to Market services through 3 discreet routes:

  1. Traditional PPA  - standard offtake focused primarily on subsidised assets within a 5 year horizon
  2. Large Developer offtake – bespoke product offerings focused on long term, large scale offtake
  3. Corporate PPAs – delivering both virtual and private wire energy supply to corporate clients.

The primary objective of the PPA Origination manager is to service markets 2 & 3.

As well as being an integral member of the wider I&C Sales team, the PPA and Sustainability Solutions team works very closely with deal facilitators including the Wholesale Market traders, Legal, Risk, Credit and Finance. Acting as the keystone in often complex negotiations and structuring, you will ensure successful delivery of deals that deliver excellent customer experience and sales targets. 

The Skills

In order to be a successful PPA Origination Manager, we expect you to have a track record of successful negotiations and exceptional internal and external stakeholder relationships with analytical attention to detail and great presentational skills. 

You may have experience of leading direct reports; you will have demonstrable evidence of delivering results through virtual teams.

  • Customer focused and action oriented 
  • Numerate with exceptional commercial acumen 
  • Detailed knowledge of low carbon markets and instruments (ROC, REGO, GoO) and the accompanying legal and regulatory requirements. 
  • Ability to identify new business opportunities and relationships utilising a diverse range of prospecting techniques
  • Confident working across a broad spectrum of both internal and external stakeholders, adapting style and content of communications to suit
  • Understanding of the commercial benefits of Net Zero – sustainability, environmental care and energy efficiency
