The Opportunity


Our exciting Sizewell C (SZC) project – a proposed new nuclear power station to be built on the Suffolk coast - would provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years which, along with renewables, will support Britain’s Net Zero aim by 2050.   

We now have an opportunity for an Investor Relations Reporting Manager to lead the formation of an investor relations function and team for SZC. The role sits within the Financing and Economic Regulation team (F&ER), making the case for SZC as a next of a kind plant following on from Hinkley Point C (HPC). 


The Role


You’ll be SZC’s spokesperson and primary source of information for investors. You’ll use your knowledge of infrastructure projects to build and develop relations with investors, internal and external stakeholders, the UK Government and Ofgem. You’ll also ensure all necessary environmental, social and governance (ESG) and other reporting is completed.

Your main responsibilities will be:



  • Managing communications regarding any corporate matters affecting the company’s investors
  • Deciding on communication strategies, approaching and anticipating likely reactions to specific events, strategic decisions and outcomes through the construction phases
  • Developing and managing SZC’s relationship and communication programme with the investment community and connected stakeholders
  • Building and developing an IR targeting strategy, aimed at securing a deep and valuable relationship with the investor community and the UK Government
  • Working closely with the communications team to develop and deliver the narrative and key messages which reflect the status of the programme of works and health of the enterprise
  • Organising investor meetings alongside the executive leadership and programme delivery teams
  • Preparing major external financial and business events and briefings on key areas of SZC’s business
  • Working with the Managing Director and the Commercial, Delivery, Financing and Economic Regulation departments to thoroughly understand the commercial delivery and financial components of the enterprise’s status 


The Skills


To be successful in this role you’ll be able to demonstrate: 



  • Experience of running an investor relations function in a large organisation 
  • Strategic- minded with strong attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast- paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience of complex commercial negotiations with investors
  • Familiarity with financing documents / process and of working closely with advisors
  • A developed understanding of legal issues related to investor relations
  • Knowledge of the infrastructure and engineering sectors (ideally nuclear or energy, or another highly regulated sector such as oil & gas, etc)
  • Knowledge of wider innovative markets and technologies (hydrogen, direct air capture, etc) would be beneficial
