The Opportunity

Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy.
 
Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project is now seeking private investment with a view to start construction in 2024. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050. 

 

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Industry & Policy Engagement Lead  in the ESG and Radiation Strategy team. 

 

Our teams are set up to work flexibly, with a hybrid working approach between our offices and your home. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.

 

 

The Role 

 

 

You’ll lead Sizewell C’s engagement with key National and International Industry and Policy / Standard Setting Organisations across the areas of ESG, Radiation Protection / Safety, Radioactive Waste Management and Decommissioning. 

 

You’ll develop an Engagement Strategy with these key organisations including but not limited to World Nuclear Association, Nuclear Industry Association, Society for Radiological Protection, Nuclear Institute, International Commission on Radiological Protection and International Atomic Energy Agency.

 

You’ll sit on relevant working groups or identify Sizewell C’s best athlete to input to the workstream, coordinate responses to consultations on related Policy, Standards and Regulation and coordinate Sizewell C’s input to the Government Liaison Committee on related Policy and Regulation.


You’ll also coordinate visits to other organisations in support of Knowledge Exchange and Sharing of Best Practice, and organise events hosted by Sizewell C to facilitate the same. 

 

You’ll Interface with External Regulators in particular the Office for Nuclear Regulation and Environment Agency, along with the relevant teams within the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

 

 

The Skills 

 

 

You’ll have solid technical grounding in ESG / Sustainability and / or Radiation Protection / Radioactive Waste Management, gained through previous experience including driving the implementation and embedding of management arrangements.

 

You’ll have experience of developing and leading strong relationships with the regulators, and National and International Bodies.

 

You’ll be degree qualified or equivalent in an sustainability, science or related discipline.

 

You’ll have excellent working knowledge of environmental, sustainability and radiation safety/waste legislation, policy, regulatory guidance, and standards.

 

You’ll have the ability to influence and encourage change of behaviours across a diverse range of senior leaders.

 

You’ll have strong presentational and communication skills; able to present at Board and Executive level forums / committees and National and International Fora.

 

You’ll have expert knowledge of Nuclear Industry Standards and Best Practice in Environmental Protection, Sustainability, Decommissioning and Radiation Safety.
