The Opportunity

Here at EDF, one of the biggest energy firms in the UK, we’re looking for a detailed focused part/fully qualified tax professional with a significant understanding of how indirect taxes operate, to join us as an Indirect Tax Advisor.

Managing the accurate and timely submission of a variety of indirect tax returns , you will liaise with various parts of the business and ensure that any queries are resolved prior to reporting to HMRC. You will also delve into the activities of the business to identify and advise on the impact of indirect tax law and HMRC policy to inform the approach taken by the business and to ensure we adhere to our Tax Strategy.

The Role

Working closely with your stakeholders, you will provide timely support and clear Indirect Tax advice to the wider business. You will deal with ad hoc queries from HMRC and manage correspondence with HMRC stakeholders as well as provide support from an Indirect Tax perspective in relation to internal and external audit activity. You will take on responsibility for the management of specific Indirect Tax projects as well as produce reports and present to/engage with Senior Management.

You’ll have a proactive, can-do approach with a strong passion for data/analytics/numbers with the eagerness to really make a difference. You’ll also have great attention to detail and a collaborative working approach, building, maintaining as well as developing strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders. In return, you will be supported every step of the way to develop and progress your career. You will have the opportunity to get involved in all areas of this exciting business – from the construction of a new Nuclear Power Station to the installation of smart meters and EV vehicle charging points at a customer’s home. You will have the opportunity to work with and develop your understanding of a range of Indirect Taxes other than VAT. You will be supported by a friendly and collaborative team to ensure that you and the Tax team are given the best opportunities to succeed. 

If you are part or fully qualified (CTA, ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent) with a significant understanding of how indirect taxes operate the legislation, case law and HM Revenue & Customs Guidance alongside considerable experience of managing VAT reporting, providing technical advice in relation to Indirect Taxes and managing and delivering improvement projects , then we’d love to hear from you!
