The Opportunity

Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting projects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a ~£20bn nuclear new build project in Suffolk which has just obtained planning approval and is seeking financing from HMG and investors, with a view to start construction in 2023. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Lead Health and Safety Advisor, to act as the subject matter expert in the Sizewell C Safety Management System (SMS) and Industrial Safety and Wellbeing Standards, to achieve ISO 45001 accreditation.

Our teams are set up to work flexibly. If you’re able to travel to the office to collaborate with your team and stakeholders when required, you can be based anywhere in the UK. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.

The Role

You’ll be the Lead and single point of contact in the preparation, oversight and assurance of the SMS against the requirements of ISO 45001.

Working across the Project organisation, you’ll engage with all relevant stakeholders to complete the gap analysis of the SMS, providing advice and support to ensure that any gaps identified are communicated and actions agreed to close the gaps, tracking actions to completion.

Additionally, you’ll work with the Project Delivery Organisation / Civil Works Alliance to support development of future SMS requirements as the project evolves.

The Skills

You’ll have significant experience in leading and supporting accreditation to ISO 45001, and broad health and safety experience gained in a project/ construction/ engineering environment.

It’d be beneficial if you’ve worked in the nuclear industry, or another highly- regulated industry such as oil and gas, rail, etc.

If the above sounds like you, then we’d love to hear from you!
