What you’ll be doing
Shape the Future of Green Hydrogen as Head of Power-to-X
As Head of Power-to-X at EDF Renewables, you will take the lead in transforming innovative hydrogen concepts into commercially viable, investment-ready projects. From initial idea through to Final Investment Decision (FID), you’ll oversee and guide the critical commercial, investment, and project management workstreams that will define the success of our hydrogen initiatives.
Your mission:
- Drive the commercial strategy and oversee investment pathways for our hydrogen developments.
- Lead negotiations and craft pivotal commercial agreements, including engaging with UK government stakeholders such as DESNZ.
- Represent EDF Renewables as the public face of our Hydrogen business, building relationships and inspiring confidence in our vision.
- Forge and advance strategic partnerships to develop groundbreaking hydrogen projects.
- Collaborate with EDF Energy, Hynamics, and global EDF Group colleagues to align strategies and maximize opportunities across the hydrogen ecosystem.
- Refine and execute the hydrogen strategy for the UK and Ireland, keeping EDF Renewables at the forefront of green energy innovation.
This is a unique opportunity to blend visionary leadership with hands-on strategic development, contributing to projects that will shape a low-carbon future and establish EDF Renewables as a leader in the green hydrogen space.
What do you need to be great at this role?
- Exceptional relationship-builder with experience engaging Government, industry leaders, and key stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with outstanding commercial skills and the ability to influence at all levels.
- Skilled leader, negotiator, and decision-maker, able to handle challenges with respect and integrity.
- Creative problem solver, driving innovative solutions in complex scenarios.
Bonus points for:
- Knowledge or experience in hydrogen policy or industry.
- Experience with corporate offtakers, balancing customer needs and value creation.
- Background in delivering large-scale capital projects in energy or related sectors.

Location: Based in one of our offices with the UK (Durham, London, Edinburgh or Cardiff). We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, meaning you can work comfortably from home with our offices as your base location and travelling only when needed for internal / external meetings.
As our key projects are based in Teesside, Northeast England, the candidate will require some regular travel to this area.
