Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project is now seeking private investment with a view to start construction in 2024. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050. 


We have a fantastic opportunity for a Funded Decommissioning Manager within the ESG and Radiation Strategy Directorate. An exciting time to join a fantastic project.

The Role 


You’ll manage the delivery, maintenance, and compliance with Sizewell C’s Funded Decommissioning Programme (FDP). This will include the production and maintenance of the Decommissioning & Waste Management Plan, Funding Arrangements Plan, Waste Transfer Contracts, Section 46 Agreement and Standstill Agreement, along with developing and implementation of the arrangements to support compliance with the FDP.


You’ll be responsible for setting the standards and maintain oversight of compliance with License Conditions 35 of Sizewell C’s future Nuclear Site License and the associated legislation e.g. the Energy Act 2008.


You’ll be responsible for the delivery and ongoing maintenance of Sizewell C’s Funded Decommissioning Programme, including the Decommissioning & Waste Management Plan, Funding Arrangements Plan and associated Contracts.

You’ll be responsible for setting the standards and maintain oversight of compliance with License Conditions 35 of Sizewell C’s future Nuclear Site License and the associated legislation e.g. the Energy Act 2008.

You’ll ensure that appropriate organisation and proportionate arrangements are in place for the various stages of the SZC project to maintain compliance with these requirements.


The Skills 



You’ll have good working knowledge of funded decommissioning and nuclear liabilities legislation, policy, regulatory guidance, and standards.


You’ll have the ability to influence and encourage change of behaviours across a diverse range of senior leaders.


You’ll have expert knowledge of Standards and Best Practice in Decommissioning Planning including Financial Models and approaches to Risk and Contingency.


You’ll have strong presentational and communication skills; able to present at Board and Executive Level forums / committees and National and International Fora.


Experience in Funded Decommissioning and Decommissioning & Waste Management Planning ideally in the context of the Energy Act.


Extensive experience of regulatory and external stakeholder engagement and management.
