The Opportunity


EDF Wholesale Market Services (WMS) is a core business line within the EDF UK Customers Business that is at the centre of helping Britain achieve Net Zero. It provides industry leading wholesale market services to EDF’s supply and generation business units and to third party energy asset owners. The team operates in a broad and diverse range of market segments including residential & business supply, nuclear, renewable & thermal generation and storage & flexible energy.


We’re looking for a talented Product Design Lead to be the go-to expert for our Home & Business Flexibility portfolio here at EDF! You’ll help shape the Flexibility team’s strategy by championing the products in the Home & Business Flexibility Portfolio and bringing new, innovative products to market.

What you’ll be doing


As the Product Design Lead, you will be accountable for the inception, design, and delivery of products within Home & Business Flexibility. This means providing innovative products and solutions to owners of flexibility in the residential or business setting such as EV smart charging, battery storage, heat or industrial processes.


You’ll take responsibility for the end-to-end commercial management of both signed and prospective customer contracts and end-to-end design of individual products from discovery and design, through to delivery.  


You will plan, undertake, and support user research to inform strategic decisions and the design of potential solutions. You’ll identify and scope out customer and business requirements and effectively translate them into new or improved product offerings and propositions, meeting requirements such as compliance, performance and scalability.


You’ll work closely with the technology team throughout all stages of the product development process, developing product roadmaps including release schedules and iteration and sprint goals.


 Who you are


We are looking for somebody with experience of EV, heat pumps or battery storage product design and a thorough understanding of the UK wholesale energy and flexibility markets.


You’ll bring strong experience in product development, propositions, and deep energy market knowledge, making you the teams subject matter expert!


You will have the ability to apply and understand a wide variety of modelling and analytical techniques, ensuring best practice is applied. You’ll have a strong commercial acumen and previous experience of working within a commercial or product led role.


You will demonstrate the ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships both internal and external, ensuring excellent customer service.
