The Opportunity

Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

We’re looking for a dynamic Financial Accounting Services (FAS) Team Leader who will oversee our offshore financial accounting team. This role isn’t just about managing numbers—it’s about driving strategy, streamlining processes, and building a high-performance team that adds real value to SZC.

Our teams are set up to work flexibly, with a hybrid working approach between our offices and your home. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.

Your Impact:

As our FAS Team Leader, you'll ensure we deliver precise, timely, and actionable financial information that empowers SZC’s business. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will shape and execute a strategy for efficient and cost-effective financial services, overseeing everything from accounts payable to payroll. This role requires leveraging the latest in finance technology, working closely with IT, and innovating processes to meet the evolving needs of SZC.

You will lead our outsourced financial services teams, continuously improving and aligning operations with our strategic objectives, and positioning the FAS function as a reliable partner for business decisions across the project. By driving transformation through automation and smart outsourcing, you'll help create a finance team that sets the standard in service excellence and value.

What You’ll Do:

Lead and Manage: Direct and support the FAS team to ensure delivery of financial services that meet SZC’s exacting standards.

Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a strategic plan that aligns with SZC’s mission, supporting both financial compliance and operational excellence.

Process Optimisation: Work with internal and external teams to implement improvements, using SAP and ANAPLAN to streamline reporting and data management.

Collaborate with IT: Act as a key finance representative on SAP S4/HANA projects to enhance accounts payable and receivable processes.

Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with key partners—government, investors, and suppliers—ensuring strong financial governance and risk management.

What We’re Looking For

Strong Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading high-performing finance teams in a shared service or similar environment, ideally in the construction sector.

Strategic Mindset: Commercially savvy with a strong understanding of finance technology trends and an ability to apply these to achieve business objectives.

Financial Expertise: A qualified accountant (or equivalent experience) with a solid background in financial processes, regulatory frameworks, and SAP S4/HANA.

Excellent Stakeholder Management: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and navigate complex relationships with suppliers and contractors.

Why SZC?

At SZC, you’ll be part of a historic project that aims to shape the UK’s energy future, working alongside top talent and pioneering technology. This is more than a role; it’s a chance to lead change, drive results, and leave a lasting impact on a national-scale project. We offer a competitive package, career growth opportunities, and the chance to work on a world-leading nuclear energy initiative.

Ready to take on this unique challenge and make an impact on the future of sustainable energy? Apply today and become part of the SZC journey!
