Finance Accountant

The Opportunity

As a Finance Accountant, you will be accountable for the timely and accurate production of the relevant tables and dashboards. You will work collaboratively with the Consolidation and the Performance Seniors, which will provide the support to produce the financial analytics / management information and reporting required for you to deliver your role. You will play a key part in aiding the Consolidation and Performance Manager in achieving a high quality, accurate financial analysis and data of actual and planning information performed efficiently. You will also be responsible for working closely with related accountants and helping with understanding of financials and consistency of story.

Day to Day:

  • Contribute to the Executive’s Company Performance Reviews by adapting the Company’s main financial dashboards, templates and performance reports to provide financial insight, track the progress and reporting of the Company’s financial performance and developing action plans to ensure delivery against targets
  • Assist with the production of the Group reporting requirements associated with the consolidation of EDF Energy and the reporting required for the Corporate Functions.
  • Manage the financial planning process for the relevant area including production of Medium-Term Plan, Budgets and Re-forecasts. Primarily forward looking, the team will review planning, budgeting and forecasting information focusing on challenging assumptions and decisions, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Consolidate financial KPIs, support CIP scorecard preparation in alignment with the business units and the finance team. Intervene when exceptions occur.
  • Contribute to change initiatives across the Finance organisation, encouraging exemplary ways of working when partnering, supporting and challenging. Seeking process improvements and promoting best practice.
  • Build in easy-to-consume narratives and graphics around financials to aid understanding of complex concepts as well as promote a self-service attitude to the business by advocating the use of technology and tools as appropriate.

The Skills

The role requires a flexible approach to meet the challenging commitments of the department therefore you will have a rigorous and organised approach to the production of financial information and good presentation skills. This specifically includes the ability to link disparate information, understanding trends and patterns which can then be turned into ideas, frameworks or proposals consistent with business needs.

You will need to:

  • Be a part-qualified accountant with experience in audit.
  • Have a strong academic record with good numerical, IT and written skills with an up to date knowledge of IFRS.
  • Experience of working in a finance department..
  • Knowledge of SAP, Hyperion and ANAPLAN would be advantageous.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of key business issues is desirable.
