The Opportunity

Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting projects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a ~£20bn nuclear new build project in Suffolk which is currently seeking planning approval and financing from HMG and investors, with a view to start construction in 2023. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

We have a fantastic opportunity for several Environment Site Leads with different disciplines – Ecology, Water Quality, Land Quality, and a General Specialist. These will all be key roles throughout the construction phase of the project, ensuring compliance with our environmental requirements and commitments.

Our teams are set up to work flexibly. If you’re able to travel to the office to collaborate with your team and stakeholders when required, you can be based anywhere in the UK. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.

The Role

You’ll either be an Ecologist, a Water Quality Specialist, Waste/ Contaminated Land Specialist or General Environment Specialist depending on your expertise.

Acting as an Intelligent Customer within SZC, you’ll work across the main construction site and associated development sites, supporting compliance with site permits, licences and consents, and planning conditions related to your specialism.

Delivering inspections of site activities and implementing environmental performance measures, review and reporting requirements will be a big part of your role.

Additionally, you’ll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders such as the SZC planning team, Civil Works Alliance, Environment Agency and local authorities to deliver works in a high quality and compliant manner.

The Skills

You’ll need to have experience in an environmental- related role (Ecologist, Water Quality Specialist, Waste/ Contaminated Land Specialist or General Environment Specialist), with a strong understanding of the requirements and arrangements needed to deliver compliance with site environmental permits, licences and consents.

Knowledge of the construction/ large infrastructure sector would be beneficial.

If the above sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
