Energy Economics Senior Analyst

 

The Opportunity

 

As an Energy Economics Senior Analyst, you’ll be responsible for EDF UK’s long-term power market modelling capability. You’ll be designing, implementing, and maintaining power market models, using commercial software to undertake market and strategic analysis. You’ll develop insight into a range of areas relevant to EDF’s businesses and vision for the future market environment.  
 
Working closely with analysts across EDF Group, you will ensure scenarios for GB and Irish power markets are developed on sound and coherent quantitative foundations, support projects of strategic importance and provide analysis to help shape the policy agenda.

What you’ll be doing

 

As an Energy Economics Senior Analyst within our Net Zero Strategy & Policy team[ML1] , a strategic function critical to developing and steering the business, you’ll:

 

  • Own EDF’s long-term power market modelling for the UK and Ireland, designing and maintaining cutting-edge models using commercial software to deliver strategic insights.
  • Dive deep into market dynamics, uncovering trends and opportunities that align with EDF’s vision for a sustainable future.
  • Working autonomously and taking initiative, you’ll support junior team members, and build team expertise.
  • Respond to strategic business needs, providing analysis that shapes policy discussions and supports critical projects.
  • Collaborate across EDF Group, ensuring robust, coherent scenarios for GB and Irish markets.
  • Deliver impactful insights, presenting clear recommendations to senior stakeholders to guide investments and highlight key market risks and opportunities.
  • Stay ahead of the curve, developing expertise in the fundamental drivers of UK electricity and connected markets and anticipating changes driven by policy, technology, and competition to identify strategic risks and opportunities.
