Communications Industrial Placement 2022

A career that will deliver change. Together, we can help Britain achieve net zero.

Join our Communications Industrial Placement programme and you can make an immediate impact, powering the nation today, whilst helping to build a sustainable energy future for tomorrow.

“This programme exposes me to things I don’t experience on my degree… I’m learning how to create and target communications towards all sorts of stakeholders that I’d previously never even thought about. At the same time, I’m using skills I’ve learnt from my degree, such as digital and social media marketing, and applying them in new contexts.”

Melissa Cobb, Communications Executive Placement

The Communications Industrial Placement Programme

We’re recruiting for students to join us on our Communications Programme within our Corporate Affairs team.

Your time will be shared between our Strategy and Corporate Affairs team, which looks after the political, stakeholder and media engagement for companywide issues; and our Editorial, Content and Channels Digital team who are responsible for our corporate digital and social channels.

Training, development and support for you

Over this 12-month programme, we’ll offer you an opportunity to get involved in the planning and coordination of the development of public affairs materials, and to work on a range of different platforms and technologies; planning, developing, implementing and analysing campaigns to drive brand awareness and traffic.

Throughout the course of the placement, you will gain:

  • Good understanding of how communications contribute to the business success of the company
  • Understanding of corporate communications
  • Knowledge of the various businesses and key topics for EDF

The skills and experience gained on such a varied industrial placement will look great on any job application and place you in a very marketable position within the jobs market or, where opportunities exist, in any application to join EDF Energy in the future.

For an idea of the type of work you could do, recent students have been involved in junior planning (ministerial meetings, MPs appointments, coordination of letters writing etc…); coordination of the development of public affairs materials; and creation (including writing), publication and measurement of digital content on these channels.
