Employment basis: The role is expected to be a full- time position however we are open to discussing a more flexible or part- time approach where possible.
Salary: £90,000 - £100,000k dependent on experience, plus bonus and other benefits.

Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Commercial Lead.

The Role
The role available is for Commercial Leads in the Equipment Portfolio.
As a Commercial Lead at Sizewell C, you will take ownership of commercial management, overseeing contract negotiation, supply chain optimization, risk management, and cost control. Working closely with the project team, stakeholders, and suppliers, you’ll play an integral part in ensuring the project adheres to budget, regulatory, and operational requirements, and effectively contributes to the UK's renewable energy targets.
The equipment portfolio has a global supply chain, predominately European based, and the role will require an element of travel (both UK and abroad) to meet the demands of the project.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and Implement Commercial Strategies: Lead the development and implementation of robust commercial strategies aligned with Sizewell C's project goals and budgetary objectives.
Contract and Supplier Management: Oversee major contracts, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation, and supplier performance that meets project milestones and regulatory standards.
Financial Oversight: Monitor and manage financial performance, including forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, to ensure project cost efficiency and alignment with financial objectives.
Risk Management: Identify and assess commercial risks, implementing strategies to mitigate financial, operational, and supply chain risks effectively.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government bodies, regulatory agencies, and commercial partners.
Leadership: Lead a team of commercial managers and analysts, fostering a high-performance culture focused on innovation, transparency, and accountability.
The Skills & Qualification
Essential
Member of RICS/ICE/CICES/IOB or equivalent professional body.
Proven ability of working at a senior level within a complex major project/programme environment managing teams in both procurement and post-procurement phases.
Evidence of successfully undertaking complex procurements and of administering contracts.
Effective Commercial Management and Leadership skills, with clear knowledge of best practice contract methodologies in the UK environment.
Honed commercial skills and demonstrable ability to make sound decisions on complex matters of high financial value.
Excellent understanding of procurement, contract performance measurement, risk management and change and claim management.
Excellent negotiating, influencing and communication skills.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Experience of working in a dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders.
Experience of FIDIC standard forms of contract (and other contract forms eg NEC) within the power/construction industry on complex major projects/programmes.
Ability to travel abroad.
Desirable
Educated to degree level.
Familiar with the nuclear site licence conditions and the nuclear baseline philosophy.
Understanding of the UK regulatory framework.
Understanding of UK and international supply chain within the nuclear sector.
Knowledge of English law and its impact upon the contract and commercial function.

* Sizewell C Limited will be moving offices from 90 Whitfield Street to 25 Copthall Avenue, London.
25 Copthall Avenue is a modern building just a short walk from Moorgate and Liverpool Street stations. Sizewell C will occupy the whole of the 4th floor. We are targeting a move in February 2025.
This role will be contractually based at 25 Copthall Avenue. However, depending on the date of the move there may be a period that you will be required to work temporarily from our existing office at 90 Whitfield Street.
