Sizewell C. The power of good for Britain.

Location: Based in London or Suffolk office 2 days a week. Hybrid working available.

Employment Type: Permanent.

Salary: Competitive plus other benefits.

Closing date: Sunday 2nd April 2023

The Opportunity

Sizewell C (SZC) is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project is now seeking private investment with a view to start construction in 2024.

Once operational, SZC will deliver substantial carbon emissions savings to the UK’s energy mix. This is in addition to the significant environmental and social benefits the project will deliver during the construction phase. Our commitment to minimising environmental impact is embedded within our strategic aims and in-delivery goals. We aim to demonstrate the low carbon credentials and wider benefits of large-scale nuclear power.

As a Climate Strategy Lead, you’ll be responsible for the development and implementation of SZC's Carbon Management Strategy. This includes stepping up the work done surrouding biodiversity and nature related programmes and aiming to deliver a truly transformational project to the local region through numerous initiatives that will create social value.

Our teams are set up to work flexibly, with a hybrid working approach between our offices and your home. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.

The Role

We are looking for someone to develop the climate change adaptation and mitigation strategy and provide scenario modelling management.

You’ll be responsible for identifying nature-related risks and opportunities and give biodiversity programmes oversight.

The role will allow you to oversee carbon data collection project-wide and develop relationships with key stakeholders to drive reporting accuracy improvements over time.

Working closely with project stakeholders, you’ll deliver expertise including life cycle assessments for project initiatives and cost/benefit considerations.

The Skills

You’re likely to have a strong passion for sustainability.

It would be expected of you to have experience in developing project wide energy strategies.

You’ll have strong analytical skills including the ability to generate reports, carry out complex data analysis, produce informative presentations and interpret data to a non-technical audience.

It would be great if you hold knowledge of relevant standards and regulations (such as PAS 2080).

You’ll bring your experience of using carbon accounting software and carbon reporting tools.

If that all sounds like you, then we’d love to hear from you! A full job description is available on request.

Power in Diversity
