A little intro;

Pivot Power, part of EDF Renewables, is deploying a portfolio of forty 50MW energy storage projects from planning through to construction. As an Energy Storage Project Development Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical and engineering details of market-leading energy storage solutions into Pivot Power’s Portfolio Management team. You will be involved during all phases of project development for these projects until each site has reached formal final investment decision (FID). There are also opportunities to support the wider EDF Renewables group on energy storage projects within the UK and abroad.

What’s your role and where will you fit in?

As Project Development Engineer you will work with the Engineering, Procurement, Planning and Construction teams to design concept site layouts in addition to the following;

  • Discuss and resolve any technical queries/challenges found during the development phase of a project
  • Manage Pivot Power draftsperson for preparation of layouts, elevations and technical documents required for planning applications.
  • Work closely with Pivot Power engineering team to understand energy storage suppliers’ latest technical solutions to assess implications on design, layout, electrical and communication interfaces.
  • Review and influence site lease boundaries with the Legal team to dictate technical constraints
  • Prepare information required and review outputs of third-party surveys and reports (e.g. geotechnical, flood risk assessment, noise impact assessment, etc.)
  • Write technical project reports (e.g. milestone reports), as required by projects and in line with project governance requirements.
  • Be responsible for the setup and maintenance of all project records and other documents, so they are structured and easy to use during project development phase

What do you need to be great at this role?

You will (ideally) have a background in Renewables Projects (Energy Storage, Wind or PV) as you will be working as part of and supporting diverse cross disciplinary teams to carry a project through investment decision to commercial operation.

You will be able to demonstrate experience of completing due diligence on project development documentation, reporting on findings and identifying solutions along with preparation of technical specifications and other technical documents.

You will benefit from (but don’t necessarily require):

An education in sustainable energy, civil, mechanical, chemical or materials engineering.
Experience manipulating renewable energy project layouts in CAD software
Familiarity with DNO applications, planning, land option and grid connection agreement processes

With a proactive, can-do approach you will challenge the way things are done in order to provide continuous improvement and development of our business whilst ensuring objectives are achieved on time without compromising governance, safety and quality standards.
