Wind Turbine Technician, Scotland Central, Competitive Salary & Benefits

We are EDF Renewables - Building a sustainable future through wind power and other renewable technologies, in partnership with local communities. 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Wind Turbine Technician to join our Scotland Central Team, we would welcome applications from experienced Technicians, or individuals with transferrable skills to join us during a period of growth. The appointed will work at a number of sites in the central belt of Scotland around the Edinburgh area. We have the task of delivering safe renewable operations and maintenance (O &M) services in the UK, that includes the operation and maintenance of circa 450MW in 36 wind farms. 


Reporting to the regional O&M Area Manager, you will be expected to deliver scheduled and unscheduled maintenance services to Senvion wind turbine projects in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines. On a daily basis you will be responsible for fault-finding, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair on all turbine systems, which will include mechanical, electrical and hydraulic assemblies and major components.


Planning and reporting daily maintenance activity you will also:

  • Provide out of hours and weekend response to turbine breakdown with reasonable notice and safety induction to contractors and visitors.
  • Scheduled service in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines and coordinating local spare part and consumable stock.
  • Proactive repair or component replacement to prevent complete failure or system downtime.
  • Supervising specialist and subcontractor activity during main component exchange.
  • Form part of an on-call team, including weekend cover.

The Person

We are looking for a strong safety-minded person with excellent analytical thinking, this role requires a strong sense of planning and organisation.

Knowledge of other wind technologies would be an advantage but is not a necessity.

The Skills


  • Desirable experience on wind turbines in a technician capacity, knowledge of Senvion wind turbine projects, in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Equivalent relevant engineering experience whereby the skills are transferrable.
  • Qualification in electrical and/or mechanical disciplines to HNC / NVQ3 level (or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience)
  • High level of physical fitness and good health.
  • Previous accreditation as AT/AE under WTSR is desirable but not essential.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Full UK driving licence.
