The Opportunity

Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project is now seeking private investment with a view to start construction in 2024. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Quality Manager within the Safety, Security and Assurance (SS&A) directorate. Reporting to the Head of Nuclear Compliance, Audit and Performance Improvement.

This role will oversee activities on site, and as a result is based on location at Sizewell C.  There may be some opportunity to work flexibly from home, around the project activities, and we provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.

The Role

You’ll act as the guardian and standards setter for quality standards across the SZC project, defining and developing quality policies and standards, and providing expert advice and support to the business on quality assurance systems.

You’ll define policies and standards for the organisation, define the internal procedures and processes, create and deliver the Safety, Security and Assurance Quality Assurance programme and create and support the programme Integrated Assurance Plan.

You’ll also manage the task of obtaining relevant international quality certification and arranging internal and external audits.

You’ll manage relationships and engagement with regulators, principally the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and the Environment Agency, facilitating that relationship across the business.

You’ll also provide expert advice and guidance to the business in quality matters.  This includes all the supporting arrangements in place to manage those relationships and to lead & manage the underpinning business activities, whilst working on replication of project working to minimise costs.

You’ll ensure that the Sizewell C strategy and guidance enables the organisation to achieve certification international standards, including ISO9001, 14001, 45001.

The Skills

You’ll have expert knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9001, ISO 19443, ISO 14001) with experience working on a large- scale infrastructure project.

Experience in supervising and managing smaller teams is important, and you’ll need to be a strong communicator with the ability to manage external regulatory stakeholders.

Whilst knowledge of the nuclear industry would be ideal, its not essential if you’ve had experience working in another highly regulated environment.

If the above sounds like you then we would love to hear from you!
