In this role you will build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders at a working and senior level, particularly within Ofgem and BEIS, as well as represent EDF in industry forums, seeking to influence the development of energy policy and regulatory frameworks in line with EDF’s interests and agreed objectives. You’ll also advise on major projects including escalated compliance issues, the services we offer to customers to encourage their engagement in net zero, and support for vulnerable customers.

Pay, benefits and culture...

In addition to a salary starting from £66,000 (negotiable depending upon experience) we offer a market-leading company pension scheme, paid holidays with ability to buy additional holiday and a range of flexible benefits, such as: a company incentive bonus plan, health cover, cycle to work scheme, electric vehicle scheme, gym membership, discounts and employee pricing.

Whilst your base office will be either in Hove or Sunderland, we’ll support you to work flexibly from home (providing a suite of IT equipment), whilst coming together on site to offer face to face support and collaboration.

At EDF, everyone’s welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and where you feel confident being yourself.  We’re committed to equality, diversity, inclusion.  We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re an equal opportunity and disability confident employer. If you feel comfortable sharing with us that you have a disability, and you meet the minimum criteria for the role, we will guarantee you an interview.

We’ll value the difference you bring and give you opportunities to thrive and succeed and to feel you belong.

The opportunity…

Reporting to the Head of Customers Policy and Regulation, your role will focus on important areas of Retail Market policy and regulation activity including existing regulation relevant to domestic and non domestic energy supply, as well as the transformation of the market to deliver Net Zero. You’ll take ownership for developing and agreeing with the Customers Business appropriate policy and regulatory strategies in line with EDF’s strategic goals, and implement those strategies through engagement with external stakeholders.

You’ll provide advice to Customers Business colleagues as required on relevant regulations as well as on new business initiatives, and will be responsible for leading and developing more junior team members to maximise their contribution to the achievement of team and individual goals, whilst creating a culture of excellence and inclusivity.

What we’re looking for…

You’ll have an excellent knowledge of the Retail Market policy and regulatory environment coupled with a strong understanding of how these apply to EDF’s Customers Business Unit and the key (internal and external) drivers for change.

You’ll have an eye for detail as well as relentless focus on what is needed to achieve a sustainable energy market where customers can engage in the Zero carbon transition with proven ability to influence at a senior level both internally and with external stakeholders. With the ability to take initiative to pro-actively develop relevant policy positions, you’ll analyse, understand and communicate associated risks and opportunities with a clear understanding of the structure and operation of our business and our strategic priorities.

Using your strong stakeholder and relationship management skills, you’ll engage with a wide range of specialist teams and experts, including, legal, economics, operations and commercial, and with your sound leadership skills, you’ll inspire, motivate and develop more junior team members with the aim of maximising their contribution and potential.
