Gross Margin Business Partner

We’re looking for a Gross Margin Business Partner to join our Residential & SME Gross Margin Finance team on a 12 month FTC. Alongside the team you’ll make a significant positive impact on performance, helping the business deliver it’s strategic and financial gross margin targets.

 

The Opportunity

 

As the Residential & SME Gross Margin Business Partner, you'll collaborate with the Customers team, providing insights that drive strategic and operational decisions for better business performance.

 

You'll forge strong relationships with Residential & SME Sales & Margin Management teams, optimizing financial outcomes while balancing support with independent challenge. Proactively offering insights and ideas, you'll play a key role in influencing business performance and decision-making.

What you’ll be doing

 

You’ll manage Residential & SME month-end reporting, ensuring deadlines are met. This involves collaborating with various Finance teams and Retail Commercial Performance.

 

You’ll perform variance analysis, interpret data, and present monthly results to key stakeholders. Understanding key drivers of revenue and costs for SVT/Variable and Fixed products, you’ll provide accurate analysis and assess risks and opportunities affecting gross margin.

 

Building strong relationships with Wholesale Market Services, you’ll proactively manage gross margin risks by recommending mitigating actions. You’ll also develop analysis tools to better understand gross margin drivers.

 

In partnership with the business, you’ll create challenging but achievable budgets and forecasts for Residential and SME. Additionally, you’ll support balance sheet reconciliation and the Unbilled Action Plan by understanding wider finance and gross margin processes.

 

Who you are

 

To excel in this role, you must be an excellent communicator with the confidence to build strong relationships across the business. Your experience in data analytics within finance systems will enable you to interpret large data sets effectively.

 

Strong commercial acumen is essential, along with the ability to quickly understand and communicate the implications of data to drive decision-making. You should be adept at converting complex data into executive-level narratives and have advanced Excel skills.

 

You’ll thrive in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment, demonstrating resilience, organisation, and prioritisation skills. A growth mindset and passion for learning will help you challenge the status quo.

 

Comfortable working independently and as part of a team, you should have experience or a solid understanding of the energy industry. Ideally, you are a qualified management accountant or a chartered member of CIMA.
