What does this Digital Innovation opportunity offer you?

We’re looking for a student to join our UK Research & Development (R&D) Centre for this 12-month Digital Innovation placement here at EDF R&D. The Digital Innovation team works on the cutting edge of new digital technologies to analyse and develop innovative ways to improve the lives of our colleagues and customers, building the path to a Net Zero future one advancement at a time. As a member of the team, you will have the opportunity to:

• Explore and develop new technologies to help us achieve a greener energy future
• See the latest developments in areas such as AI, blockchain, chatbots and mixed reality
• Contribute your skills to cross-platform apps in a range of programming languages and frameworks.
• Develop prototypes and proofs of concept.
• Find new solutions to old problems.
• Work internationally with teams of worldwide experts.

Training, development, and support for you 

Over the 12-month programme you’ll work collaboratively with other colleagues in the development and delivery of research projects for the benefit of EDF in the UK, UK Energy Sector and EDF Group.

You’ll support the Digital Innovation team in developing and successfully delivering research and innovation projects. You’ll have the opportunity of working with the Data Science team designing and developing new tools to support and improve EDFs ambitious and sustainable vision of future energy, leverage existing technologies in new ways as well as contributing to the development of new ones.

This placement will help you improve your skills in advanced programming and will provide you with the opportunity to gain experience in all stages of the development cycle. You will work with experts from different parts of the company including EDF R&D in France, enabling you to build up your skills and knowledge within a large, complex organisation.

Your work location 

This placement will be based in Hove, at EDF R&D with some flexibility for home working.

Who you are

We are looking for candidates who are on track to achieve, or have already achieved, a 2:2 undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, User Experience, App Development, or any related degree. You should possess strong technical and analytical skills, along with a genuine desire to learn and develop new capabilities. A questioning attitude, good teamwork, and effective communication skills are also essential qualities we seek.
